A scale is a series of notes, one after another in a certain order. For example the order of the notes, Do - Re - Mi - Fa - Sol - La - Si - Do this is a scale.

The minimun notes you may have in a scale are 5 notes, is a penta scale, like all the black keys on a piano. Db, Eb, Gb, Ab, Bb

A Lot!. But you can learn a way to know how to make each and every scale. Start with one.

The Major and minor scales. The Major scale is more popular, like the C major scale, Do - Re - Mi - Fa - Sol - La - Si - Do.

The C Major scale has 8 notes: Do - Re - Mi - Fa - Sol - La - Si - Do.

The C scale has no sharps and no flats.

Note 1 - C or Do - Play it pressing the string No. 5 and the fret No. 3

Note 2 - D or Re - Play it on the string No. 4 Open, do not press any fret

Note 3 - E or Mi - Play it pressing the string No. 4 and the fret No. 2

Note 4 - F or Fa - Play it pressing the string No. 4 and the fret No. 3

Note 5 - G or Sol - Play it on the string No. 3 Open, do not press any fret

Note 6 - A or La - Play it pressing the string No. 3 and the fret No. 2

Note 7 - B or Si - Play it on the string No. 2 Open, do not press any fret

Note 8 - C or Do - Play it pressing the string No. 2 and the fret No. 1

The G Major scale has 8 notes: Sol - La - Si - Do - Re - Mi - Fa# - Sol.

The Bb Major scale ( B flat ) has 8 notes: Sib - Do - Re - Mib - Fa - Sol - La - Sib.

The Bb Major scale has also another name, the A sharp (A#) scale.

Because the A sharp has a lot of sharps, is not very popular, and for beginners is really dificult to understand

That is why the Bb is a lot more popular. And besides, it sounds the same, so play Bb better.

Try to play each scale now from memory, without looking at the videos.

If you can not, then practice more and memorize each scale.
